BPS and BPF are as dangerous as BPA

bpsBispehnol A (BPA) has for a number of years been associated with significant health impacts. Over 10,000 articles, (including clinical, epidemiologic, and experimental studies), have been published documenting the horrific impact of BPA on the environment and human metabolism.

BPA is a common chemical used in a variety of products including plastics and the paper usually associated with receipts. The adverse is associated with the ability of the chemical to from food or beverage containers and causing significant metabolic and hormonal changes.

Previous studies have linked BPA to reproductive male dysfunction which has been increasing over several linked to a declining sperm count. In addition BPA has been associated with diabetes, obesity, cardiovascular, chronic respiratory and kidney diseases, breast cancer, behavioral troubles, tooth developmental defects, and reproductive disorders in both sexes.

Scientists have for a number of years focused on finding an alternative substance to be used in chemical products. BPA was in baby bottles in Canada in 2008, in France in 2010 and in the European Union in 2011. France has taken a proactive step to protect the health of its consumers and a new law has been implemented in 2015 forbidding the use of BPA in any food or beverage packaging.

The current study published in the journal of Fertility and Sterility specified that BPS and BPF has a similar adverse . The application of BPS and BPF in chemical products is not regulated. BPA free is often used to a product when in fact these products contain BPS as a BPA alternative; for example “BPA-free” thermal printing paper. The majority of Bisphenol related chemicals occur predominantly in such as cans for soup; accounting for approximately 42% and 17% of all bisphenols respectively.

The researchers investigated the impact of BPA, BPS and BPF on basal testosterone secretions of mice and human fetal testes. BPS and BPF, which are gradually replacing BPA, have antiandrogenic effects that are similar to those of BPA. This is the first report showing a harmful effect of BPS and BPF on a physiologic function in humans and rodent and also determined the epigenetic action of BPS and BPF The researchers recommend further testing.
